A very fine Bronze and Sienna Marble Mantel Clock. The theme of this clock is that of The Knife Grinder. It is taken from a Hellenistic Marbel statue of the Pergamum School of the 3c. BC which is in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.
It was made and signed by Andre Pignot and Pons of Paris.
It has an 8 day, striking movement fitted with a silk suspension, anchor escapement and countwheel striking on a bell. The case is of Sienna Marble.
