The London Clock Maker

Antique restration

This is a typical round plate Parisian 8 day Anchor escapement movement. Dating around 1820. They were made in large numbers and were fitted into many different case styles. Because of their design they are very reliable and if maintained will give many years of accurate service.

The Fusee is the means of equalizing power from the main spring to the escapement between winding.

The Fusee uses the practice of mechanical leverage on different diameters of the Fusee cone its self. The earliest picture of the Fusee is 1455  but could date back far further.

This is a good quality 8 day movement. Typical of the 17C & 18C. Having a rack striking mechanism the advantage of which it is self correcting.

Just visible is the Anchor Escapement used extensively in English clocks. For it`s quality's of accurate time keeping and reliability.

We always fit a 49 strand stainless steel line covered with a PVC coating. On all are clocks. This to ensure virtually maintenance free reliability.
