Carriage Clocks

Our Clocks

The same production techniques as French mantel clocks (see above), and in some cases the same factories, produced the quintessentially French carriage clock. Most of these were destined for Britain, since we produced nothing to compete with them for cost or function. They were manufactured in vast numbers and in a wide range of quality and complication - some being among the most complicated clocks ever made.

They were produced from circa 1830 and, although they virtually disappeared from production in the mid 20th century, have now made a considerable comeback as one of the few quality mechanical clocks produced today.
