Our Clocks

French mantel clock from the French empire period dating to around 1810. This clock strikes the number on the hour and once on the half onto a bell with a count wheel. The dial has Roman numerals on a gilt base. The case is bronzed with gilded mounts and a Tazer on the top. It measurers 15" (38cm) high and 7" (18cm) wide and 4" (10cm) deep.

The Empire Style, sometimes considered the second phase of
Neoclassicism, is an early-19th-century design movement in
architecture, furniture, other decorative arts, and the visual arts.

The style originated in and takes its name from the period when Napoleon I ruled France, known as the First French Empire, where it was intended to idealize Napoleon's leadership and the French state.
